What Caused the Data Breach Affecting New York Life Group Benefit Solutions and T. Rowe Price Retirement Plan Services Clients?

The Infosys McCamish Systems data breach was previously reported; however, New York Life Group Benefit Solutions and T. Rowe Price Retirement Plan Services, Inc. were recently added as affected entities. Evidently, IMS provides administrative services to these organizations, which is how it obtained customer information. According to IMS’s filing with the Attorney General of Maine, between October 29, 2023 and November 2, 2023, an unauthorized party was able to access Infosys McCamish Systems’ IT network. IMS learned about this incident on November 2, 2023, at which point the company hired third-party cybersecurity specialists to assist with its investigation.

Ultimately, the IMS investigation confirmed that an unauthorized party had been able to access certain files on its system containing confidential consumer information. While there are many companies that were affected by this breach, this notice, in particular, was for clients of New York Life Group Benefit Solutions and T. Rowe Price Retirement Plan Services, Inc.

After learning that sensitive consumer data was accessible to an unauthorized party, Infosys McCamish Systems reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted.

On September 9, 2024, Infosys McCamish Systems sent out data breach letters to anyone who was affected by the recent data security incident. These letters should provide victims with a list of what information belonging to them was compromised.
