What Caused the InHealth Technologies Data Breach?

The InHealth Technologies data breach was only recently announced, and more information is expected in the near future. However, InHealth Technologies’ filing with the Attorney General of Massachusetts provides some important information on what led up to the breach. According to this source, on November 11, 2023, InHealth learned that hackers were able to access the company’s computer network in an attempt to disable and encrypt the company’s IT system. As it turns out, the hackers were able to encrypt portions of the InHealth network.

In response, InHealth launched an investigation with the help of outside data security experts in hopes of learning more about the incident, as well as whether any consumer data was compromised as a result. Ultimately, InHealth Technologies was able to confirm that an unauthorized party had gained access to certain files containing confidential consumer information.

After learning that sensitive consumer data was accessible to an unauthorized party, InHealth Technologies reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted. While the breached information varies depending on the individual, it may include your name, Social Security number, date of birth, demographic information, prescription information, and health insurance & billing information.

On January 9, 2024, InHealth Technologies sent out data breach letters to anyone who was affected by the recent data security incident. These letters should provide victims with a list of what information belonging to them was compromised.
