Insurers are utilizing innovative services to assist those affected by Hurricane Harvey, as well as those who may need assistance following Hurricane Irma.  One large carrier created an interactive map that shows areas affected by Harvey. The general public can use the map to assess the condition of their neighborhoods. Meanwhile, several insurers are using drones to assess roof damage in Texas following Harvey, and will likely use the drones again in Florida. At least one insurer is using artificial intelligence, combined with aerial photos, to expedite claims processing, while others are using new money transfer tools to wire claim-payment monies into insureds’ accounts.
