On March 20, 2020, Treasury Secretary Mnuchin announced that the IRS would be extending the due date for filing of certain federal income tax returns otherwise due on April 15, 2020, to July 15, 2020. This announcement supplements I.R.S. Notice 2020-17 issued on March 18, 2020, extending the due date for paying certain income taxes until July 15, 2020. This extension does not impact the due date for the filing of any other type of tax return or information return.

In addition, this announcement does not affect the filing of state income tax returns, and we will monitor various state departments of revenue to see if they take similar action. California had previously announced a filing extension to June 15, 2020.

We are continuously monitoring developments coming from the Treasury Department and Congress attempting to amelioriate the economic impact resulting from the COVID-19 virus.
