This is an update to an article I wrote back in 2018 when a defamation suit brought by Stormy Daniels against Donald Trump was dismissed. Judge S. James Otero dismissed the Daniels suit on the basis of a defense for "rhetorical hyperbole." This led me to wonder how Trump's use of rhetorical hyperbole in the Daniels case compared to the same kind of hyperbole used later later in the E. Jean Carroll defamation suits. To say the least, the results were dramatically different.
