New ITC takings occurring in Dearborn.

ITC has been using eminent domain for years to acquire additional property rights along existing transmission lines.  For a more complete discussion of this process, please see Owners’ Guide to Understanding and Responding to an ITC Easement Request. Generally speaking, ITC is acquiring expanded vegetation management rights in order to remove vegetation in the vicinity of its existing transmission lines.

I have handled these cases in Washtenaw, Oakland and Wayne counties. Previously, the Wayne County efforts revolved around takings in Taylor and Brownstown. This is first information that I have received that ITC is now expanding these efforts in Dearborn.
