What Caused the Kemlon Products Data Breach?

The Kemlon Products & Development Group data breach was only recently announced, and more information is expected in the near future. However, Kemlon’s filing with the Attorney General of Texas provides only limited information on what led up to the breach.

However, we know that Kemlon recently completed its investigation into a potential data security incident. Through this investigation, Kemlon was able to confirm that an unauthorized party was able to access certain information that had been provided to the company. While it’s possible that the incident was the result of a cyberattack against Kemlon’s IT network, that isn’t necessarily the case. It’s also possible that Kemlon is reporting a third-party data breach that occurred at one of the company’s vendors.

Regardless, after learning that sensitive consumer data was accessible to an unauthorized party, Kemlon Products & Development Group reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted. While the breached information varies depending on the individual, it may include your name, Social Security number, and financial account information.

On November 1, 2024, Kemlon Products & Development Group filed notice with the Attorney General of Texas. As of the writing of this post, there is no notice on Kemlon’s website. However, Kemlon will likely soon be sending out personalized data breach letters to anyone whose information was affected by the recent data security incident. These letters should provide victims with a list of what information belonging to them was compromised.
