What We Know So Far About the Rackspace / Kibble Equipment Breach

News of the Kibble Equipment data breach is still fresh; however, what we know at this point comes from the company’s filing with the Montana Attorney General. According to this source, on January 12, 2023, Kibble was notified by one of its vendors, Razor Consulting, that one of Razor’s vendors, Rackspace Cloud Services, had experienced a data breach. Evidently, Kibble Equipment had provided Razor Consulting with data related to the preparation of customer exemption certificates and vendor W9 forms.

In response to learning about the Rackspace breach, Kibble Equipment reviewed the data provided by Razor to determine what, if any, consumer information was leaked. The Kibble investigation confirmed that certain consumer data was included among the breached information.

Upon discovering that sensitive consumer data was made available to an unauthorized party, Kibble Equipment began to review the affected files to determine what information was compromised and which consumers were impacted. However, Kibble Equipment has not yet publicly disclosed what types of data were leaked as a result of the Rackspace data breach.

On April 10, 2023, Kibble Equipment sent out data breach letters to all individuals whose information was compromised as a result of the recent data security incident.
