On June 27, 2023, MAC Pizza Management filed a notice of data breach with the Attorney General of Texas after learning that confidential information belonging to thousands of people was compromised following a cyberattack. Based on the company’s official filing, the incident resulted in an unauthorized party gaining access to consumers’ names, Social Security numbers, and possibly driver’s license numbers. News of the MAC Pizza Management data breach is still fresh; however, what we know at this point comes from the company’s filing with the Attorney General of Texas. According to this source, on April 17, 2023, MAC Pizza learned that the company had been the target of a ransomware attack. In response, MAC Pizza launched an investigation with the assistance of outside cybersecurity specialists, notified law enforcement, and took the necessary efforts to secure its systems.

Through its investigation, MAC Pizza was able to confirm that an unauthorized party was able to access certain files on the company’s computer system, including several that contained confidential consumer information.

Upon discovering that sensitive consumer data was made available to an unauthorized party, MAC Pizza Management began to review the affected files to determine what information was compromised and which consumers were impacted. While the breached information varies depending on the individual, it may include your name and Social Security number. Some consumers may have also had their driver’s license number leaked if they provided it to MAC Pizza.

On June 26, 2023, MAC Pizza Management sent out data breach letters to all individuals whose information was compromised as a result of the recent data security incident.
