News of the Maimonides Medical Center data breach is still fresh; however, what we know at this point comes from a “Cybersecurity Incident” post on the company’s website. According to this source, on April 4, 2023, MMC learned that hackers were able to access confidential patient information stored on the hospital’s computer network. In response, MMC secured its systems and then retained cybersecurity experts to assist with the investigation.
The MMC investigation revealed that hackers were able to access its network between March 18, 2023 and April 4, 2023. Further investigation confirmed that some of the files that were accessible to the hackers contained confidential patient information.
Upon discovering that sensitive consumer data was made available to an unauthorized party, Maimonides Medical Center began to review the affected files to determine what information was compromised and which consumers were impacted.
