According to a recent report by WebRecon, court filings under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA), and complaints filed with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) were all up for the month. Not only that, but everything except filings under the FDCPA were up over 2024.
WebRecon reports the overall statistics for consumer litigation in March as follows:
- 642 FCRA cases were filed, representing a 5.2% increase from February;
- 406 FDCPA cases were filed, representing a 27.7% increase from February;
- 242 TCPA cases filed, representing a 23.5% increase from February; and
- 20,485 complaints filed with the CFPB, representing an 16.0% increase from February.
Filings are mostly up compared to January 1 to March 31, 2024 (FCRA +8.5%, FDCPA -8.7%, TCPA +35.5%, CFPB +116.4%).
