Members Trust of the Southwest Federal Credit Union Announces Data Breach Affecting Customers’ SSNs and Financial Account Information

On January 20, 2023, Members Trust of the Southwest Federal Credit Union filed notice of a data breach with the Attorney General of Texas after confirming that the confidential information of some bank customers was accessible by an unauthorized party. Based on the company’s official filing, the incident resulted in an unauthorized party gaining access to consumers’ names, addresses, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, financial account information and protected health information. After confirming that consumer data was leaked, Members Trust Federal Credit Union began sending out data breach notification letters to all individuals who were impacted by the recent data security incident.
