Mexico has joined the Hague System by depositing the instrument of ratification of the Geneva Act of the Hague Agreement for International Protection of Designs on March 6, 2020, thereby fulfilling one of its obligations under Article 20.A.7 of the USMCA Treaty. This agreement provides the means of protection for Mexican industrial designs within the Hague System and will enter into force on June 6, 2020.  Under the Hague Treaty parties from participating countries may file a single application for protection of a design that will be effective in all countries that are parties to the treaty unless one of those countries raises an objection to the application.

Mexico is the 64th member to join the Geneva Act of the Hague agreement and the first Spanish speaking country to join the Hague system in Latin America.
