What Caused the MNGI Digestive Health Data Breach?

The MNGI Digestive Health data breach was only recently announced, and more information is expected in the near future. However, MNGI’s filing with the Attorney General of Maine provides some important information on what led up to the breach. According to this source, on August 25, 2023, MNGI detected suspicious activity within its computer network. In response, MNGI secured its network and then launched an investigation with the help of cybersecurity experts.

Through this investigation, MNGI confirmed that an unauthorized party was able to access certain portions of the company’s computer network on August 20, 2023, including files containing confidential patient information.

After learning that sensitive consumer data was accessible to an unauthorized party, MNGI Digestive Health reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted. MNGI completed this process on June 7, 2024. While the breached information varies depending on the individual, it may include your name, medical information, health insurance information, date of birth, financial account information, driver’s license number, state ID number, passport number, biometric data, and Social Security number.
