What Caused the Monte NidoData Breach?

The Monte Nido data breach was only recently announced, and more information is expected in the near future. However, Monte Nido’s filing with the Attorney General of California provides some important information on what led up to the breach. Monte Nido also posted a website notice discussing the incident.

According to these sources, on September 22, 2023, Monte Nido detected suspicious activity within its computer network. In response, Monte Nido secured its system and then launched an investigation with the help of third-party data security experts.

Through this investigation, Monte Nido learned that an unauthorized party was able to access its systems between September 16, 2023 and September 22, 2023. It was also determined that the unauthorized actor could access files containing confidential consumer information during this time.

After learning that sensitive consumer data was accessible to an unauthorized party, Monte Nido reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted. While the breached information varies depending on the individual, it may include your name, address, phone number, email address, date of birth, driver's license number, birth certificate, email address and password, digital signature, passport number, Social Security number, financial account information, worker’s compensation claim information, medical record number, patient account number, medical information, prescription information, dates of service, medical history, and health insurance information.

On August 9, 2024, Monte Nido sent out data breach letters to anyone who was affected by the recent data security incident. These letters should provide victims with a list of what information belonging to them was compromised.
