  • Following a search conducted by a bipartisan committee of ten members, the National Association of Attorneys General (NAAG) has unanimously selected Brian Kane, the Chief Deputy Attorney General of Idaho, as the organization’s next Executive Director. Kane will succeed Acting Executive Director Al Lama, who will return to his role as deputy executive director when Kane assumes the position.
  • In his new role, Kane will be responsible for facilitating member relations, leading NAAG’s day-to-day operations, and coordinating the organization’s policy centers and training programs. Idaho AG Lawrence Wadsen, with whom Kane has worked for over a decade, has said that Kane “has the right skillset to successfully lead NAAG in 2022 and beyond.”
  • NAAG’s goal is to “foster bipartisan engagement and cooperation among state attorneys general and their staffs across the legal and law enforcement issues they all share.”  However, as previously reported, May 2022 saw the withdrawal of Alabama, Arizona, Texas, Missouri, and Montana from the organization, and other Republican AGs have voiced the need for reforms to the organization.
