The Public Affairs team has issued a 2016 NC Legislative Campaign Filing Update.
2016 NC LEGISLATIVE CAMPAIGN FILING UPDATE
The filing deadline for 2016 election campaigns was Monday, December 21, 2015. Following the close of the filing period, 53 incumbent state lawmakers are facing no opposition in district re-election bids. Additionally, many races will not see both major parties represented on the ballot. In 75 districts, races will effectively be decided in the primary election, held March 15, 2016. Some of those districts will see unaffiliated or write-in candidates, but are unlikely to experience any true general election challenge.
