Nevada OSHA to Inspect Performing Arts and Sporting Event Productions and Venues

Last month, Nevada OSHA implemented a revised Local Emphasis Program (LEP) targeted at employers in the performing arts, live entertainment, sports and related industries. According to the recently released LEP, industries under the North American Industrial Classification Systems with the industry code number 711 will be targeted. These industries are being targeted for inspection as a result of a high recordable injury rate supposedly occurring in the state of Nevada.

According to the LEP, a list of theatrical and stage production work sites to be targeted for inspection is being generated by Nevada OSHA from entertainment publications, websites and advertisements regarding upcoming conventions, shows, concerts and other productions. Additionally, for those venues and events that are less than 30 days in length from set up to completion, Nevada OSHA has announced that it will choose one such event each month to inspect....
