As we send 2021 out and ring in 2022, a few developments and reminders.

Recusal Order. As reported previously, the Supreme Court of North Carolina has been grappling with how to handle involuntary recusal motions. The Supreme Court has issued a generally applicable order on that issue.

Remote Oral Argument. The Supreme Court has informed advocates that the Court will be returning to remote oral argument for its January calendar.

Appellate Rules. New Appellate Rules amendments go into effect January 1.  My summary of those amendments can be found here.  If you don’t have your e-filing privileges, get moving.

Supreme Court Clerk. The application period for clerk of the Supreme Court of North Carolina closes today.

Wishing all our readers the best as they ring in the New Year!
