The 2019 election is officially over, and we have your (unofficial) results! Here are your public-law highlights:
- Statewide election. Colorado held its 2019 coordinated election last Tuesday, and the (unofficial) results are in. Proposition CC, a statewide TABOR de-Brucing measure, failed; Proposition DD, legalizing and taxing sports betting, squeaked out a victory.
- Aurora mayoral race remains close. As of late last week, former Congressman Mike Coffman was leading Omar Montgomery by 273 votes (out of about 74,000 cast). But clerks’ offices are still curing ballots, meaning the numbers aren’t final. And there’s another wrinkle: 828 ballots that didn’t make it to voters’ mailboxes until the afternoon of the election.

- Recall effort fails. An effort to recall Colorado Senate President Leroy Garcia failed this month. The group pushing for the recall had to turn in 13,506 valid signatures by late October; organizers submitted a couple of Budweiser boxes that contained just four signatures—or 0.03% of the signatures they needed.
