Sherman & Howard L.L.C.Happy Fourth of July! Now that summer is officially upon us, here are your public-law highlights:

  • Colorado Supreme Court decides significant cases. Colorado’s highest court has been busy as well, issuing two consequential decisions of its own. In People v. McKnight, the Court held that Coloradans have a privacy interest in possessing legal quantities of marijuana under the state constitution. (Attorney Chris Jackson is quoted in the Sun’s coverage.) And in In re Ballot Title #3, the Court will allow a proposed initiative repealing TABOR to go forward.
  • Denver elections. The results of the run-off are in, and Mayor Michael Hancock defeated challenger Jamie Giellis to secure another term. Paul Lopez also narrowly defeated Peg Perl in the race for Clerk and Recorder.
