What Caused the Numotion Data Breach?
The Numotion data breach was only recently announced, and more information is expected in the near future. However, Numotion’s filing with the Attorney General of Montana provides some important information on what led up to the breach. According to this source, on March 2, 2024, Numotion learned that it had been the victim of a cyberattack. In response, Numotion secured its systems and then began working with external cybersecurity experts to assist with the company’s investigation.
Through this investigation, Numotion learned that an unauthorized party was able to access its network between February 29, 2024 and March 2, 2024, including files where confidential information was stored.
After learning that sensitive consumer data was accessible to an unauthorized party, Numotion reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted. Numotion completed this process on March 4, 2024. While the breached information varies depending on the individual, it may include your name, date of birth, Social Security number and employment information.
