Most employers are required to complete OSHA’s Form 300A by February 1, 2017 and to post it and keep it posted between that date and April 30, 2017. 

The 300A log summarizes any work-related injuries and illnesses employees experienced during 2016, and it must be completed and posted even if no injuries or illnesses occurred during the year.  The summary must be posted in an area where notices to employees are usually placed. 

Businesses with 10 or fewer employees and businesses in certain low-hazard industries are exempt from the requirement to post Form 300A unless an employee had a fatality, was hospitalized, had an amputation, or lost an eye.  A list of the industries that are partially exempt can be found on OSHA’s website.

Employers that missed the February 1 deadline for completing and posting Form 300A should comply as soon as possible.  While technically in violation of OSHA’s recordkeeping requirements, it is better to comply late than to not comply at all.
