What Caused the Precision Imaging Breach?

The Precision Imaging data breach was only recently announced, and more information is expected in the near future. However, Precision Imaging’s filing with the Attorney General of Maine provides some important information on what led up to the breach. According to this source, on approximately November 2, 2022, Precision Imaging detected suspicious activity within its computer network. In response, Precision Imaging secured its network and launched an investigation with the assistance of third-party cybersecurity specialists.

The company’s investigation confirmed that files containing personal information were accessed and obtained by an unauthorized party.

After learning that sensitive consumer data was accessible to an unauthorized party, Precision Imaging reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted. While the breached information varies depending on the individual, it may include your first and last name, address, Social Security number, driver’s license number, government-issued identification number, health insurance information, medical conditions and diagnoses, health information, medical information, and date of birth.

On June 22, 2023, Precision Imaging sent out data breach letters to anyone who was affected by the recent data security incident.
