Since it entered into force in 2018, the PRIIPs Regulation has raised a number of issues. These range from issues concerning the scope of the Regulation, in particular its application to corporate bonds and the impact this has had on the corporate bond market, to issues concerning the calculation methodologies and presentation requirements for the Key Information Document (KID).
The European Supervisory Authorities (ESAs) are now taking further steps to help improve the application and workings of the regime. First, the ESAs are consulting on amendments to the PRIIPs KID. In a consultation paper published on 16 October 2019, the ESAs consider what amendments could be made in relation to the requirements concerning future performance scenarios, transaction costs, and multi-option products in the KID.
