Recently, the Regional Emergency Medical Services Authority (“REMSA”) confirmed reports that the organization recently experienced a cyberattack. As a result, REMSA Health is looking into the extent of the cyberattack to determine whether any patient information may have been compromised. If, upon completing its investigation, REMSA Health confirms that patient or employee information was exposed to unauthorized access, it will begin sending out data breach notification letters to all individuals whose information was affected by the recent data security incident.
If you receive a data breach notification from Regional Emergency Medical Services Authority, it is essential you understand what is at risk and what you can do about it. A data breach lawyer can help you learn more about how to protect yourself from becoming a victim of fraud or identity theft, as well as discuss your legal options following a possible REMSA data breach. Was There a REMSA Health Data Breach?
REMSA Health only recently confirmed that it was the target of a cyberattack, and the organization is still in the midst of its investigation. Thus, it is too soon to tell whether there was a REMSA Health data breach. However, various news sources have covered the incident. According to these sources, on February 5, 2025, the Chief Operating Officer for REMSA Health sent out a company-wide letter confirming that the organization was recently notified by its security and anti-virus programs that the company’s Computer Aided Dispatch (“CAD”) system was the target of a cyberattack. The CAD system provides supplementary support to emergency medical dispatchers.
In response, REMSA Health asked employees not to use their computers out of an abundance of caution. Shortly after confirming the attack, REMSA Health was able to bring the CAD system back online. Currently, REMSA Health is continuing its investigation into the cyberattack to determine what, if any, consumer information was compromised as a result.
If REMSA Health determines that sensitive information was leaked, it will be required to send out data breach letters to those who were affected by the incident. These letters should provide victims with a list of what information belonging to them was compromised.
