What Caused the Nobility RCM Data Breach?

The Nobility RCM data breach was only recently announced, and more information is expected in the near future. For now, Nobility RCM’s filing with the Attorney General of Texas provides only limited information on what led up to the breach.

According to this source, Nobility RCM recently learned of a data security incident in which confidential information that had been provided to the company was subject to unauthorized access. While Nobility filed notice of the breach with the Texas Attorney General, it is possible that the incident occurred at a vendor used by Nobility.

Regardless, after learning that sensitive consumer data was accessible to an unauthorized party, Nobility RCM reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted. While the breached information varies depending on the individual, it may include your name and medical information.

On August 16, 2024, Nobility RCM filed notice of the data breach with the Texas Attorney General. Typically, companies will send out notification letters to all victims affected by the breach around the same time they report the incident to state attorney general offices; however, it’s possible the timeline in the Nobility RCM data breach could be different. Once sent, these letters should provide victims with a list of what information belonging to them was compromised.
