This week, Rhode Island Governor Gina M. Raimondo directed the Office of Energy Resources to work with the state’s utilities in issuing a request for proposals (RFP) for 400 megawatts of clean energy from solar, wind, and other renewable generation resources, and to procure such resources by the end of summer 2018.

The governor’s announcement is Rhode Island’s latest step toward meeting Rhode Island’s “1,000 by ‘20” strategic goal, by which the state seeks to increase in-state renewable generation capacity to 1,000 megawatts by the year 2020, a tenfold increase over 2016 installed capacity levels.

Pierce Atwood will provide a more detailed summary of the RFP once it is issued.
