Exposure to the weedkiller Roundup (glyphosate) has been linked to an increased risk of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

Farmers, gardeners, groundskeepers, and other individuals who were exposed to Roundup and have been diagnosed with lymphoma may be eligible to file a lawsuit and receive compensation for their illness.

For more information about whether they may qualify, workers can contact a law firm involved in the ongoing Roundup litigation for more information and to start the process of filing their claim.

Roundup Linked to Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma

Roundup, also known as glyphosate, is a weedkiller that was originally developed by Monsanto. During the decades since it was developed, Roundup became the most popular and widely-used weedkiller in the world. Roundup continued to be sold by Monsanto until 2016, when the company was purchased by Bayer.

During the last decade, evidence published by the World Health Organization has linked Roundup and other glyphosate weedkillers to an increased risk of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma. According to the WHO, evidence suggests that exposure to Roundup is a probable cause of cancer in humans, including lymphoma.

According to another study published in 2019 by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), individuals that were exposed to Roundup are 41% more likely to develop non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

These findings eventually lead the organization's International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) to classify Roundup and glyphosate as “Group 2A” carcinogens. This means that exposure to these weedkillers may contribute to an increased cancer risk.

Roundup Lawsuits Filed Over Lymphoma Risk

In response to the evidence linking Roundup to an increased risk of lymphoma and other cancers, thousands of workers and other individuals who were exposed to the weedkiller have filed lawsuits against Bayer and Monsanto.

These lawsuits have alleged that the two companies knew about the link between Roundup and cancer – including non-Hodgkins lymphoma – but continued selling the product while failing to warn the public about its dangers.

So far, more than 100,000 Roundup lawsuits have been filed against Monsanto and Bayer. In 2020, the companies agreed to pay $11 billion to settle thousands of claims involving the link between Roundup and lymphoma.

Despite the 2020 Roundup settlement, individuals who developed lymphoma after exposure to this weedkiller may still be able to file a lawsuit and receive compensation for their illness.

Currently, there are about 50,000 Roundup lawsuits still pending in state and federal courts. Individuals who were exposed to Roundup and diagnosed with lymphoma can contact an experienced attorney to receive more information about whether they may qualify to take legal action.
