cellRowsThe Lansing Board of Water and Light (BWL) has issued a request for proposals (RFP) seeking to acquire up to 5MW of nameplate rated capacity in one or more solar energy projects to be in service by June 2016. The RFP is intended to help keep the BWL on track to meeting Michigan’s 10% renewable energy standard.

The BWL has stated that it is “interested in exploring various solar energy technologies and project formats including a large array, distributed solar program, community based solar projects, or another project format that a bidder may propose” and has expressed a particular desire for a community based solar program. In fact, further development of solar resources in Michigan may be seen as indicative of the growth of solar installations throughout the United States.

The BWL will hold a pre-bid conference on June 19, 2014, at 2:00 p.m., eastern daylight time (EDT), where, among other things, the BWL will answer questions and make available a list of organizations that may wish to participate in a community solar project.

Sealed proposals will be received by the BWL up to 2:00 p.m. EDT, Monday, August 11, 2014. Questions concerning the RFP should be directed in writing to: Tony DeLuca, Buyer, Purchasing & Warehousing Department, P.O. Box 13007, Lansing, Michigan 48901 or E-mail: txd@lbwl.com. Proposals are to be submitted to: sealedbids@lbwl.com.
