Spring Break and Shared Parenting

It’s a beautiful day in Central Florida and spring break is in full swing!  The sun is out, the flowers are blooming and the beach is calling your name!

Typically, parents alternate the week of spring break from year to year, giving each parent the chance to do something fun with the kids for the entire week, without time constraints or limitations.  Unlike major holidays such as Thanksgiving, Hanukkah, Christmas, Easter, etc., where family commitments, holiday traditions and religious practices leave little time for leisure, spring break is the hallmark of rest and relaxation.

If you don’t already have a parenting plan in place, we suggest you make provisions as soon as possible.   Even if a trip to the beach isn’t on the horizon, decisions must still be made.  If you both work, who will watch the kids?  Will someone need to take time off?  If time off isn’t an option, will you agree on who can watch the kids?  Or will they attend camp?  If so, where?  Who will pay?  Can the kids go on a trip with their friends or extended family?

There are programs and apps to help parents address calendaring issues such as spring break, and so much more, in an interactive, secure format.  Click on the link below to learn about one of the programs we recommend to clients.  Even if it’s too late to make plans for this year’s spring break, it’s never too early to start planning for the next holiday or school break!
