What Caused the Strive Medical Data Breach?
The Strive Medical data breach was only recently announced, and more information is expected in the near future. However, Strive Medical’s filing with the Attorney General of California provides some important information on what led up to the breach. According to these sources, on January 31, 2024, Strive learned that an employee email account may have been subject to unauthorized access. In response, Strive secured its network and then began working with outside data security specialists to investigate the incident.
Ultimately, this investigation confirmed that an unauthorized party had been able to access an employee’s email account between January 29, 2024 and January 31, 2024. It was later determined that the unauthorized party was able to access emails and attachments containing confidential consumer information.
After learning that sensitive consumer data was accessible to an unauthorized party, Strive Medical reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted.
