In this notice, Stryker explains that the incident resulted in an unauthorized party being able to access consumers’ sensitive information, which includes their names, medical information and dates of birth. What Caused the Stryker Corporation Data Breach?

The Stryker Corporation data breach was only recently announced, and more information is expected in the near future. However, Stryker’s filing with the Attorney General of Texas provides some important information on what led up to the breach. Stryker also previously filed notice with the Attorney General of Vermont based on what appears to be the same incident.

According to these sources, on June 10, 2024, Stryker detected suspicious activity within its computer network. In response, Stryker notified law enforcement, contained the incident, and then began working with external cybersecurity experts to investigate the incident.

Through this investigation, Stryker learned that an unauthorized party was able to access its computer network at various times between May 14, 2024 and June 10, 2024. During this period, the unauthorized party obtained data from Stryker’s network, including confidential information belonging to certain individuals.

After learning that sensitive consumer data was accessible to an unauthorized party, Stryker Corporation reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted. While the breached information varies depending on the individual, it may include your name, medical information, and date of birth.

On December 5, 2024, Stryker Corporation sent out data breach letters to anyone who was affected by the recent data security incident. These letters should provide victims with a list of what information belonging to them was compromised.
