The Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) recently published guidance for auditors on the accounting treatment of cryptoassets, including Bitcoin. The PCAOB guidance highlights considerations for addressing certain responsibilities under PCAOB standards for auditors of issuers transacting in or holding cryptoassets. The paper also suggest questions that audit committees may consider asking their auditors when transactions involving cryptoassets or holdings of cryptoassets are material to the issuer’s financial statements.
