What Caused the Maids International Data Breach?

The Maids International data breach was only recently announced, and more information is expected in the near future. However, TMI’s filing with the Attorney General of Massachusetts provides some important information on what led up to the breach. According to this source, on January 22, 2024, TMI detected suspicious activity within its computer network. In response, TMI disconnected its network, reset all passwords, and then enlisted the help of third-party data security experts to assist with the company’s investigation.

Through this investigation, on April 18, 2024, TMI confirmed that there was unauthorized access to its computer network, including certain files containing confidential consumer information.

After learning that sensitive consumer data was accessible to an unauthorized party, The Maids International reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted. TMI completed this process on May 24, 2024. While the breached information varies depending on the individual, it may include your name, Social Security number, date of birth, driver’s license number, passport number, phone number and protected health information.

On September 12, 2024, The Maids International sent out data breach letters to anyone who was affected by the recent data security incident. These letters should provide victims with a list of what information belonging to them was compromised.
