Welcome back to The Week in Weed, your Friday look at what’s happening in the world of legalized marijuana.

The southeast was a hotbed of marijuana-related activity this week.  In Florida, Make It Legal’s ballot initiative to legalize adult-use cannabis gathered enough signatures to trigger a Supreme Court review.

In Georgia, the state’s top elected officials appointed members to a board that will issue licenses to companies to grow and sell medical marijuana.

Meanwhile, in Alabama, the Medical Marijuana Study Commission met to discuss a draft of a medical cannabis legalization bill.

In the northeast, five states are attempting to coordinate their marijuana policies, as we’ve reported before.  As this article notes, sometimes it’s hard to get everyone on the same page, even if they belong to the same political party.

On the research front, CTPharma started a clinical study on medical cannabis with human subjects.  They are partnering with the Yale School of Medicine to investigate stress and pain relief.

And finally, many persons interested in immigrating to the United States have found marijuana use to be a problem.  Even Neil Young.
