HEADLINES
• President Joe Biden enters the final stretch of his first trip abroad, culminating in a high-stakes meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
• A bipartisan group of senators continues developing and gathering support for a large-scale infrastructure proposal after announcing agreement Thursday on a “compromise framework.”
• The House returns for votes as reports continue to emerge of former President Donald Trump’s Justice Department subpoenaing phone data of Democratic lawmakers and even his own White House counsel, Don McGahn, as reported Sunday afternoon.
HOUSE
- The House will be in session today through Thursday. Major agenda items are legislation to compel public companies’ disclosure of environmental, social and governance metrics to shareholders, and a repeal of the long-standing Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq.
- Budget season is in full swing, with committees hosting Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra on Wednesday, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen on Thursday, and Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on Thursday to discuss their departments’ priorities.
- Congressman Bill Huizenga, a senior member of the House Financial Services Committee, will participate Wednesday in BakerHostetler’s ongoing 32nd Annual Legislative Seminar, this year in a virtual format. Please join us!

SENATE
- The Senate plans votes on several of President Biden’s judicial and agency nominees, including Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson to the U.S. Circuit Court for the District of Columbia.
- Senate Budget Committee hearings will host Interior Secretary Deb Haaland on Wednesday, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg on Wednesday and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Thursday.
- The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee will hold a Thursday hearing on cybersecurity threats to state and local governments.

WHITE HOUSE
- President Biden is in Brussels for meetings with North Atlantic Treaty Organization leaders.
- He will meet Tuesday with European Union leaders.
- Biden will travel Wednesday to Geneva for his first meeting with Putin amid heightened bilateral tensions.
