Third-Party Data Breach at NCB Management Services Affects 15,549 TD Bank Customers

On May 12, 2023, TD Bank filed a notice of data breach with the Office of the Maine Attorney General after the company was informed by NCB Management Services, Inc. about a data incident affecting the security of certain TD Bank customers. What We Know So Far About the TD Bank Breach

News of the TD Bank data breach is still fresh; however, what we know at this point comes from the company’s filing with the Maine Attorney General. According to this source, NCB Management Services, Inc. is a debt collection agency used by TD Bank to collect outstanding amounts owed. On February 4, 2023, NCB Management Services learned that an unauthorized party gained access to its computer system. In response, the company secured its network and launched an investigation into the incident.

The NCB Management Services investigation confirmed that an unauthorized party had gained access to certain files on the company’s computer network that contained confidential information relating to certain TD Bank customers who had previously closed their bank accounts and loans.

On April 14, 2023, NCB Management Services informed TD Bank that the breach affected some of the company’s clients.

Upon discovering that sensitive consumer data was made available to an unauthorized party, TD Bank began to review the affected files to determine what information was compromised and which consumers were impacted. While the breached information varies depending on the individual, it may include your name, address, account number, date of birth and Social Security number.

On May 12, 2023, TD Bank sent out data breach letters to all individuals whose information was compromised as a result of the recent data security incident.
