On May 19, 2016, Proctor & Gamble announced the launch of Tide® purclean™ USDA Certified Biobased detergent. Tide purclean detergent uses a 65 percent biobased formula and it is produced at a facility that uses 100 percent wind power electricity and sends zero manufacturing waste to landfills. The detergent is designed for use in both High Efficiency (HE) and non-HE washing machines, using any water temperature but particularly cold water (to help save energy). Tide purclean's formula utilizes plant-derived surfactants, a coconut-derived cleaning agent, a plant-derived processing aid, and bio-derived enzymes, which helped the detergent to earn the USDA Certified Biobased label.
