Trademark Office Of Northern Iraq Resumes Operations On 7/16/2017

On July 16th, 2017 the Trademark Office of Northern Iraq (Kurdistan of Iraq) resumed operations and adopted new official fees applicable to all new trademark applications. In addition, a new amendment has been introduced regarding the application process.

When filing a new trademark application, the following documents are required:
1. Power of attorney legalized by the Iraqi Consulate;
2. A copy of the foreign registration certificate or application. filed with Arabic translation and legalized by the Iraqi Consulate;
3. A photocopy of the commercial register or the extract with Arabic and English translation.

The Trademark Office of Northern Iraq operates independently of the Iraq Trademark Office in Baghdad and trademark registrations granted by the former are valid only in the territory of Iraqi Kurdistan.
