The United States Energy Information Administration (“EIA”) issued an August 16th report titled:

EIA Expects Renewables to Account for 22% of U.S. Electricity Generation in 2022 (“Report”)

The renewable sources identified include:

• Hydropower
• Wind
• Solar

Such renewable sources are stated to have accounted for 20% of electricity generation in 2020 and 2021.

The Report provides the following increases are expected:

• 2022/22%
• 2023/24%

The driving force for the increase is stated to include:

• Additional generating capacity from wind and solar coming online
• Generation such as coal and nuclear coming offline

Note that the Southwest Power Pool region (which includes a portion of Arkansas) is stated to have had the most growth in renewable share of electricity over the past 10 years. This is stated to be largely due to wind generation.
