The US Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) announced on November 7 that it has issued the final rule requiring payment of a $10 nonrefundable fee for each H-1B registration upon implementation of the new electronic registration system. The new selection system, which continues to undergo testing by USCIS, entails completing an electronic registration with USCIS for selection in the annual cap during a predesignated registration period.
The system is currently scheduled for implementation during the FY 2021 cap season, pending final testing by USCIS. The agency has stated that it will announce the implementation timeframe, as well as the registration period, in the Federal Register once a final decision has been made. USCIS has further stated that it will provide notice to the public well in advance of instituting the new registration requirement.
