The Arkansas Water Resources Center (“AWRC”) announced in the January 14th edition of the publication Water Currents that it is soliciting pre-proposals for the U.S. Geological Survey 104G Federal Competitive Grant Program (“Program”).

The AWRC describes the Program’s focus as water problems and issues of a regional and interstate nature beyond those of concern to only a single state.

The Program’s objectives and priorities are described as:

  • promotes collaboration between the USGS and university scientists
  • includes a strong educational component such as student support
  • relates to improving and enhancing the nation’s water supply and availability and on the exploration of new ideas that address an understanding of water problems

Key Program elements include:

  • Eligibility – Includes investigators at an institution of higher learning. (Noting that in Arkansas pre-proposals must funnel through the AWRC.)
  • Funding – The maximum amount of federal funds to be requested is $250,000. (Noting funds have not yet been appropriated for the Program for FY2019.)
  • Deadline – Pre-proposals are currently due by February 15th by 4:00 p.m.
