What Caused the VeriSource Services Data Breach?
The VeriSource Services data breach was only recently announced, and more information is expected in the near future. According to these sources, on February 28, 2024, VSI detected unusual activity within its computer network. In response, VSI secured its system and then launched an investigation with the help of outside cybersecurity experts. VSI also notified the FBI.
Through its investigation, VeriSource concluded that certain personal information belonging to employees and dependents of employees who work for organizations using VSI’s services was acquired without authorization on or about February 27, 2024.
After learning that sensitive consumer data was accessible to an unauthorized party, VeriSource Services reviewed the compromised files to determine what information was leaked and which consumers were impacted. VeriSOurce completed this process on August 12, 2024. While the breached information varies depending on the individual, it may include your name, date of birth, and Social Security number.
