Seward & Kissel and The Berkeley Center for Law and Business invite you to the inaugural FinTech Forum, which will be held Thursday, May 18, 2023. The event will highlight emerging trends in the legal and regulatory landscape.
The event will feature speakers from numerous organizations, including: UC-Berkeley, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Mercury, Goldman Sachs Bank, Upgrade, Affirm, Community Investment Management, EY, Baruch College and Financial Health Network.
Erwin Chemerinsky, Dean of Berkeley Law, will also speak on constitutional challenges to the CFPB’s structure.

Event Overview:
- The FinTech Forum will bring together thought leaders from federal and state regulators, business and academia and expert attorneys to:
- survey the current FinTech landscape;
- identify and discuss business, legal, and regulatory issues;
- highlight emerging trends and challenges, and
- explore future possibilities.
- In particular, the FinTech Forum will examine the interplay between FinTech businesses offering novel customer products or user experiences and traditional financial institutions supporting or, in some cases, competing with, such products and experiences.
- Particular attention will be paid to the legal and regulatory structures that enable such arrangements. Topics of note will include deposit products, payments and funds transfers, and lending arrangements.
