The California Supreme Court's decision in Dynamex v. Superior Court signals a sharp turn away from the standard that has been applied for decades in determining whether a worker is correctly classified as an independent contractor or an employee.

This decision is likely to have an immediate and powerful impact on businesses across California -- both within the rapidly-expanding gig economy and for more traditional businesses.

We will discuss the decision, the ramifications of the new "ABC Test"
that will be the standard going forward, and what steps businesses should consider taking in light of the new rule.
