Organized retail crime (ORC) is an all-too-common headline, with major retailers, distributors, manufacturers, and transportation providers across the United States being targeted. Retail crime not only has financial costs, but also results in increased public security and health and product safety risks. Still, some companies have cited retail crime as a factor in the decision to close a specific store location and minimize risk. ORC will continue to expand in scale and sophistication if proper measures are not taken.
Join our panel of experts for a one-hour session as they discuss the current and future state of ORC and actions that can be taken to reduce its impact. You’ll hear from Mark Skertic, managing director in the Investigations and Disputes practice at K2 Integrity; David Johnston, vice president, Asset Protection and Retail Operations at the National Retail Federation; and Adam Parks, Assistant Special Agent in Charge at the Department of Homeland Security – Homeland Security Investigations (DHS-HSI). The discussion will be moderated by Jeanne Meserve, former anchor and correspondent for CNN and ABC News, international security expert at CTV News and host of the NatSec Tech podcast at the Special Competitive Studies Project.
By the end of this session, you will be able to:
• Describe the current state of ORC
• Discuss insights about the groups engaging in ORC, including their tactics and techniques
• Recognize the economic and social impact of ORC
• Identify steps that can be taken to address ORC
