West Virginia AG Patrick Morrisey announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for Governor.
AG Morrisey has served as West Virginia’s AG since 2012 and mounted an narrowly unsuccessful bid against Sen. Joe Manchin in 2018. The announcement regarding his run for governor highlights his service as AG, including his commitment to fiscal responsibility and conservative values.
West Virginia’s GOP gubernatorial primary field already includes current Secretary of State Mac Warner, current West Virginia Auditor J.B. McCuskey, House Judiciary Chairman and Del. Moore Capito, and car dealership owner Chris Miller.
AG Morrisey joins three other sitting AGs running to become their state’s governor over the next two years—Republicans Daniel Cameron (KY) and Jeff Landry (LA) in 2023, and Democrat Josh Stein (NC) in 2024.
