According to a series of posts between February 28, 2025 and March 5, 2025, WHMC first learned about the cyberattack on February 28, 2025. In response, WHMC immediately launched an investigation to learn more about the incident. WHMC also took its internal systems offline as a precautionary measure. At this point in the investigation, WHMC indicates that there is “no reason to believe patient information has been compromised.” However, the incident is still under investigation.
As of March 5, 2025, the date of the latest Facebook post, WHMC is open, but its systems were still down.
Whitman Hospital Medical Center has not yet completed its investigation. However, if the WHMC investigation ultimately reveals that confidential patient information was exposed as a result of the incident, WHMC will send out data breach letters to anyone whose information was subject to unauthorized access.
