The results of two studies conducted by the Wind Wildlife Research Fund (“Fund”) addressing interactions between wind energy and wildlife have been issued in the form of two reports.
The reports address the lesser prairie chicken and tree-roosting bat and are titled:
- Placement of Wind Energy Infrastructure Matters: A Quantitative Study Evaluating Response of Lesser Prairie-Chicken to a Wind Energy Facility
- Landscape Factors Associated with Fatalities of Migratory Tree-Roosting Bats at Wind Energy Facility: An Initial Assessment
The Fund has been described as a wind industry-led initiative to pool investment for wind-wildlife solutions. The research projects are managed by the American Wind Wildlife Institute. The study topics are selected to address information needs for wildlife monitoring in relation to wind energy impacts.
